The Name Game

There are so many American gymnasts with the same last name. So I decided to dig up as many "name doubles" as I could find. I also put some of their accomplishments so you can distinguish each gymnast from the other. Believe it or not, there are a lot more doubles than you may think!

THOMPSON:

Jennie Thompson-Jennie was a member of the U.S. 1999 World Championships team, and she placed 1st AA in the 1999 American Cup.
Doni Thompson-Doni was the 1994 Olympic Festival winner, and now is a member of the 2000 UCLA "dream team" (as coach Valerie Kondos says).

THORNTON:

Jay Thornton-Jay won a silver medal in the 1998 Goodwill Games, and was an alternate for the U.S. team in the '99 World Championships.
Todd Thornton-Todd placed 3rd AA in the 1998 John Hancock U.S. Championships (14-15 age group), and was an AA finalist in the 1999 Winter Cup.

MILLER:

Shannon Miller-Shannon is a two-time Olympian, with 2 silver and 3 bronze medals from the 1992 Games, and 2 gold medals from the 1996 Olympic Games.
Ashley Miller-Ashley was a participant in the 1998 U.S. Classic, and the 1998 American Classic, both in junior division.

PHELPS:

Jaycie Phelps-Jaycie is a 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist.
Robin Phelps-Robin placed 8th AA in the 1999 John Hancock U.S. Championships, and 3rd AA in the '99 U.S. Classic.

YOUNG:

Guard Young-Guard was a participant in the 1999 World Team Trials, and placed 4th AA in the 1999 John Hancock U.S. Championships.
Chris Young-Chris was a member of the 1999 U.S. World Championships team which placed 6th.
Amy Young-Amy placed 13th AA in the 1997 John Hancock U.S. Gymnastics Championships.

WHITE:

Morgan White-Morgan was a member of the 1999 U.S. World Championships team. She also recently came in 2nd AA in the 2000 American Cup.
Kaitlin White-Kaitlin placed 11th AA in the 1999 John Hancock U.S. Championships for junior division.

HAMM:

Betsy Hamm-Betsy's team placed 2nd in the 1998 NCAA Championships, and she placed 18th AA in the 1998 John Hancock U.S. Championships.
Paul and Morgan Hamm-Twins, each has had many accomplishments. Morgan placed 4th in the 1999 John Hancock U.S. Championships. Paul placed 4th AA in the 1999 Pontiac International Team Championships.
