Welcome To My SUBARU WRX Modification Website

This website features various performance mods that have been done to my White 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX.

 

 

 

 

By now, just about everyone is familiar with the WRX, it debuted in the US in 2001 as an early 2002 Model Year vehicle.  To say that it was a popular vehicle would be an understatement.  In fact just 2 years after the original WRX was brought to the US from Japan Subaru announced it would be bringing over its big brother, the STi (Subaru Technica International) tuned 300 HP/300 ft/lbs of Torque monster.  Well the STi is a little out of my price range for now so I have to “make do” with my WRX.  By “make do” I mean tune the living crap out of the thing.

 

So far my mods have been pretty mild.

 

I started with a Perrin up-pipe

Perrin Uppipe

Perrin has designed their uppipes like all other of their components, with quality and performance in mind. These uppipes are designed to increase your turbo spool time by 500 RPM's.

·  321 stainless steel

·  1/2 thick flanges

·  no more EGT CEL lights with add on resistor, see instructions below

·  tig welded

·  2 mandrel bends with a rotation so the tubes fit perfect with the flanges

·  (no miters on the end of the tubes)

·  comes with studs and really good instructions with pics


 

As well as a PDE Downpipe

 

 

 

Next I went with an Apex-i N1 Muffler and custom 3” mandrel bent exhaust system

 

 

Of course, no modification would be complete without a K&N Filter system installed

The latest modification has been installing a UTEC (User Tunable Engine Controller) from Turbo XS.  This thing is my baby, the one piece that makes all the difference, in a word….WOW!!!

 

The UTEC is a new concept in WRX engine management delivering the power and control of a stand-alone engine management system with the convenience and tuning ease of a piggyback system. UTEC enables complete programmable control over ignition timing, fuel, and boost, while allowing the factory ECU to maintain control over tedious and mundane functions that make the car drivable on a daily basis. Functions like cold start, hot start, intake temperature compensation, AC compensation and closed loop fuel control signals are all managed by the factory ECU reducing your tuning time significantly while enhancing daily drivability. Spend your tuning time doing what we all like to do – making your WRX faster!

Why Billet Intercooler tanks?
Utilizing our new Haas Vertical CNC milling machine with 4th axis we have been able to carve these beautiful intercooler tanks out of solid 6061-T6 billet aluminum extrusion. As far as intercooler end tank construction method goes nothing comes close. Cast aluminum end tanks are quite heavy and the castings are too inconsistent in their finish. Hand fabrication is out of the question due to the sheer volume of these intercoolers that we build.

Cusco quality crafted strut braces are made to enhance your driving performance. The aluminum braces are a beautiful polished aluminum center section with durable and easy to mount blue endlinks. These ends have pins to connect to the center section for adjustability. The rear is designed the same as the front and can be easily installed. The carbon fiber rear bar is crafted out of incredibly strong and lightweight carbon fiber. the ends are machined aluminum and bolt right in. For maximum performance, Cusco offers a rear triangle brace made out of aluminum as well. This piece fits across the strut tops like a standard bar but comes down to the trunk brace in a triangle as well for added stiffness.

You must buy the triangle piece and the regular piece for fitment.

The all new Titanium front strut bar weighs about 3 lbs and is one piece. Titanium finish.

All strut bars fit the 2002-2004 WRX/STI.

Does your car not take the turns strong enough. Do you feel like the ass end of the car is just a huge trailer not coming around. Then you need to get a rear sway bar to improve your handling. A rear sway bar will push the car through the turns similar to a rear wheel drive car. Cusco quality crafted steel sway bars are designed to increase stability and help in turns. Reduce the body roll and the understeer with this bar. Comes with super rigid bushings. The rear is adjustable and the front is a fixed setting. We recommend using the sway bars with some of our heavy duty bushings found here.

Pillow ball type bars that will stiffen up your suspension components and improve response. Fully adjustable. Very strong and lightweight. Fits WRX wagon or sedan 02-on.

Of course a body kit will likely be added as well, but it may be a hand laid fiberglass kit and therefore I cannot provide an actual photo.  Also in the works on the cosmetic side of things are a carbon fiber hood and trunk lid, projector style HID headlights and a carbon fiber rear wing spoiler (not too tall and not too ricey looking, just functional)
