The top two finishers in each group advance to the round of 16, the first of four knockout rounds. During the knockout rounds, a coin will be tossed to see who plays white first, and therefore has the chance of playing white one more time than an opponent. (As will be explained later.) The exception to this is in the Roud of 16. In this case the group winner of the previous round will play white. In the round of 16, participants will play one match against their opponent and the winner advances to the quarter finals. In the case of a draw, the participants switch colors and play again. The procedure is repeated until one participant wins a game.
To decide the winner of quarter final pairings, participants will play each other and switch colors after each match for three matches. Whoever has more points after 3 matches will advance. If a player achieves two points in two matches they will advance without a third match taking place. If after three matches both participants have the same score, matches will continue to be played until one player wins. The winner of that match will advance.
The same process will be used to determine the winners of semi-final matches. However, five matches will be played instead of three. If one player achieves three points in less than five matches that player shall advance to the final without any more matches being played. The participants who lose in the semi-finals will play a series against each other to decide third and fourth place.
The same format shall be used for the final and the third place match. The final shall consist of seven games. If a player achieves four points before seven games they will be declared the champion with no further matches being played. The loser shall be awarded second place.
The third place match shall consist of five games. If a participant achieves 3 points in less than five games they will be awarded third place.
At any one time during a series between two participants, there is not to be more than one match relevant to the series existing at once. (The players may have as many games as they wish tht are not relevant to the tournament.) The player playing white in the given match is to challenge the other participant and name the game "Fighting Warriors Mega Tournament", or a similar name.
