Bowl of the winds

Beaded Wolf

The first piece is considered to be one my first technical achievements, as well as being part of my reviving traditions collection. The piece is entitled: Bowl of the winds and is a  stone ware pottery bowl made from stone ware earthen clay. It was created under the tutelage of the independence program here on the Fort Berthold  Reservation.  The bowl is created in the Mandan form of pottery which until recently was an extinct from of pottery. Due to the tireless efforts of the Mandan and Hidatsa people we have been able to research and revive what was once and will be again a beautiful art form .
The next piece we have on is a single appliqué line done with one needle it was originally intended for a plume carrier barrette but due to its large size around four inches by four inches it was turned into a wall hanging. Entitled:
Beaded Wolf
The work is depicting a wolf and several sizes of beads are being used here from the larger background beads which are tens to the smallest those used in the eyes which are fourteen.
