hello, my name is nick but my friends call me bird. i have been drawing all my life, but back in february 2004 i started doing these drawings of visions i had been having. they were these big intricate circular things radiating out of some centre point which appeared to be infinitely far away. i couldn't tell what any of it meant, but i figured it didn't matter because the drawings were nice to look at.
a friend of mine called liam stopped by one day, and informed me that what i had been drawing were called mandalas, hindu and buddhist diagrams of the universe. the more i drew, the more i noticed that there were mandalas everywhere: on wallpaper, in churches, even on posters for music festivals in the 1960s. i figured it was all expression of the collective unconscious in the universal mind. i was getting quite interested in contacting the spirit world at the time.
