Shadowrun Companion

Revised for Shadowrun Third Edition

Shadowrun Companion, SRIII      This revised edition of the SR Companion updates and reprints all of the old Companion rules, and adds rules on playing new races - ghouls and shapeshifters. The rules for the Metahuman variants have been reprinted here as well. There are new Edges and Flaws, new skills, and other ideas to flesh out your characters. Also included in here is a reprint of the guidelines for playing alternate types of parties, such as a street gang, a government ops team, a DocWagon high-threat response team, or a group of cops.
For the GMs, there are expanded rules for creating scenarios and campaigns, security rules for gas traps, and guidelines on how to handle contacts - from learning information from them, to earning them in the beginning. Plus, rules for "the dark side of contacts" as well as Adventure Plots Archetypes.
The rules for SOTA cyberware, prime runners, Karma, and retirement of characters have been reprinted and expanded upon. All in all, this book presents a little bit of new information, but for the most part, it is all reprints, updates, and expansions. If you have all of the sourcebooks from SRII, there is little here to enjoy. If you are missing a few of the books, this is an excellent source of information and rules explanations.
The cover price of the book is $15. Whether or not the book is worth the price depends on how much you get out of it. If there is nothing new in here for you, don't spend your money on it. If, like me, you don't have all of the SRII sourcebooks and accessories, this is well worth the money.
