We begin this tour in the Badlands,
located in the western part of North Dakota.

Teddy and his horse.

The young rancher.

Teddy Roosevelt came to the Badlands
in September 1883, to hunt buffalo.
He was immediately impressed with
the spectacular land of wildly beautiful,
many-colored hills, buttes and gorges.
So impressed that he bought his
way into a three-man partnership in a ranch.
He was in the Badlands to stay!

----------------------------------

In later years Teddy said
"I never would have been President
if it had not been for my experience
in North Dakota!"

Theodore Roosevelt

Our 26th President.

His cabin.

In the Badlands.

With all of this, can you blame
Teddy for wanting to stay?

----------------------------------

The following pictures are from what is now
called "Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Moose.

Mother and kids.

----------------------

Bison and the Badlands go together
like air and sunlight!

--------------------------

A lovely picture!
--------------------------

Be careful!

They have the right-of-way!

A peaceful setting!

Roaming wild and free!.

--------------------------

One of the most striking features
in the park is the Little Missouri River.
From any angle its presence creates a
feeling for the old west.

It just keeps rolling along!

And what about this?

Wagons Ho!

How about stopping at a friendly ranch tonight?

The sun is peeping over the
horizon, I think it is morning.

After such a refreshing night,
and such a lovely sunrise to greet us
we should all feel on top of the world!
