QUALIFICATIONS

Any individual with a doctoral degree (or research experience equivalent to that required for such a degree) who has demonstrated a major and continuing interest in the field of human nutrition is eligible for membership. Applicants are encouraged to have published at least one creditable paper, monograph, or other publication in the field of human nutrition or relevant animal model.

ISTERH'S POLICY allows candidates who hold an M.D., Ph.D., D.D.S, or D.V.M. degree, or a degree equivalent thereto, but have not published at least one creditable paper, monograph, or other publication in the human nutrition research, to append a suitable explanation for the omission to his or her application. The appendage includes a letter of endorsement from a current member of the Society.
