Finally after much anticipation, Thunder Tiger released an updated, uprated, and much improved helicopter. Ladies and gentlemen, the Raptor 30 v2 is here.
This new version of one of the best 30 sized helicopters ever sports many improved parts. Starting at the back, it now has larger tail rotor grips from the Raptor 50/60 helicopters, and a Raptor 50 tail case. Also, the tail fin comes down further to protect the tail rotors, should the back end come into contact with the ground. Coming forward, it has a fuel tank no longer than the original 30, but is higher giving it the same capacity as the 50 tank, without the fuel sloshing around. Then, the side frames have been made thicker in certain areas to add strength. But, one of the most important changes, in my opnion, is the canopy. This has a new faster, sleeker look, making it similar to the Raptor 60's canopy, but still different. And look at the differences between this new canopy and the old 30/50 canopy. As for which one looks best...no contest. Every Raptor 30/50 owner should upgrade to this. It is a million times better. Why TT never did this in the first place is beyond me.
So, what does it go like? Well, I can't really tell you yet, because it has only had 2 tanks of fuel through it, and only done one circuit. But once it is set up, and the motor is well run in, I think it will be brilliant. Incidentaly, the motor I have put in it is one of the new Irvine 39's, which is supposed to be the most 30 sixed helicopter engine ever, coupled with a Zimmerman muffler. As I say, when fully run in, this should prove to be quite a combination. I will keep you updated on how this model goes, as soon as the weather brightens up a bit.
