When the Guernsey Model get a project or event going, you can find out all about it here.
07/02/2004. I've decided to put the Indoor report on hold, then once we stop them for the summer I'll post pictures and reports from all the ones we do.
Speaking of forthcoming events, the club has quite a few lined up for the next few months. The first of these is the next indoor meet, to be held once again at the Grammar School, which has been provisionally booked for Friday 27th February at 7pm. THe previous indoor session proved that the hall is massive, loads of different types of flying 'things' can be used from the IFO's and Piccolo's, to blimps and flying saucers. There was even enough space to fly a Mini-piper around in there! Expect similar kinds of stuff and a whole lot more at the next one.
The second event is the Charmouth Heli Fly-in which this year is being held on the weekend of 24th and 25th of April. This usually promises to be a worthwhile event with some of the countries biggest names attending. THe event caters for all flying skill levels from total novice to 3D expert. Not to be missed. Please contact Andy Best if you want more details.
We also intend to go to the Sandown Model Symposium on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of May. Last year I had the chance to get out on the flightline demonstrating the Capiche 50 and an electric ME-109. This was one of the best modelling weekends I have ever had, there was plenty to see do, with a really good atmosphere. If you want any more details about this event, please get in touch with me.
Closer to home, there are a few provisional events lined up too. There is a strong possibilty of a repeat of our flying and static display at Delancy park from 2 years ago. I believe Nick is in contact with the Kings Church regarding this event, but as far as I am aware nothing has been confirmed yet. There is also our Fun Day at Chouet, which this year we will be holding during the first weekend in August. More details nearer the time. I also intend to resurrect the Park-fly evenings from last summer, probably around the end May. This year we may make it once a fortnight instead of every week, but we'll see how people feel nearer the time. On the subject of evening flying, I personally would like to know if there is much interest out there on doing an evening / night time flying session. 3 or 4 of us have tried night flying previously (check out the Park-fly 2003 report below) and it is very good fun, and a challenge beyond daytime flying. But only when the weather warms up. Watch this space.
