The Somewhat Revised Beaufort Wind Scale.

This is a revised version of the Beaufort Wind Scale which Pat Vaudin had. The 3 items in each list are the Force, the Beaufort description and the revised description. So, here goes...

0...Calm...Children want Dad to fly new kite.

1...Light airs...Reading newspaper out-of-doors becomes a problem.

2...Light breeze...Reading newspaper out-of-doors becomes impossible.

3... Gentle breeze...Twigs by front window begin to tap on glass.

4...Moderate breeze...Side gate bangs in night if someone forgot to put bolt on.

5...Fresh breeze...Old gentlemen's hats blow away.

6...Strong breeze...Clothes lines down down draaging washed sheets on grass.

7...High wind...Side gate bangs in night even when bolted.

8...Gale...Car steering seems to have gone wrong.

9...Strong gale...Old ladies' hats blow away.

10...Whole gale...Clothes lines with washed sheets take off.

11...Storm...Old ladies and gentlemen blow away.

12...Hurricane...Children want Dad to fly new kite.
