WHAT HOPE HAS JESUS GIVEN TO US ?

I Corinthians 15:19

  1. freedom from the punishment of sin
    1. sin is the transgression of God’s law - I John 3:4
      1. lawlessness
      2. lack of conformity
      3. over stepping the law (the divine boundary between good and evil)
      4. departure from what is right
      5. missing the mark
      6. putting self will above divine authority
    2. all have sinned - Romans 3:23
      1. God has a right to impose laws in our life
        1. He is the Creator and He is the Judge
        2. He cares for us and provides for us daily
      2. heart is deceitful and desperately wicked - Jeremiah 17:9
    3. sin brings judgment - Romans 6:23
    4. Jesus took our judgment - I Peter 2:24
    5. we are made righteous because of Jesus - II Corinthians 5:21
    6. results of the work of Christ - Romans 5:1-5
      1. justified - 1
      2. peace with God - 1
      3. access to even more grace - 2
      4. joy because of the hope - 2
      5. glory in tribulation - 3
      6. love of God in our hearts - 5
      7. the indwelling Holy Spirit - 5
  2. a home in heaven
    1. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us - John 14:2-3
    2. some things that will happen when we get to heaven - Ephesians 1:4-5
      1. "chosen" – election – what the future holds for the believer
        1. holy
        2. without blame
        3. in love
      2. "predestinated" – what God has decided to do for those that trust in Him
        1. adoption as children
        2. this is something that God wants to do - "the good pleasure of his will"
    3. a closer look at heaven- Revelation 21:1-2
      1. God will dwell with man - 21:3
      2. no more death, sorrow or pain - 21:4
      3. made of precious material - 21:18-19
      4. no temple 21:22
      5. no sun or moon 21:23
      6. no night time - 21:25
      7. no sin - 21:27
      8. only the saved - 21:27
      9. water of life - 22:1
      10. tree of life - 22:2
      11. these sayings are faithful and true - 22:6

    1. how it will happen - 52
      1. "moment" – atom –smallest part of time
      2. twinkling of an eye
      3. at the sound of the trumpet
      4. there will be no time to get ready
    2. what will happen - 53-56
      1. corruptible will become incorruptible
      2. mortal will become immortal
      3. we have the victory
        1. over death
        2. over sin

      1. "steadfast" – seated, fixed firmly in place
      2. "unmovable" firm
      3. "always abounding in the work of the Lord" -with abundance, to excel
