Family Dedication page to the ones that are gone but are still in my heart, mind and soul

"In tears we saw you sinking,

We saw you fade away.

You suffered much in silence,

You fought so hard to stay.

You faced your task with courage,

Your spirit did not bend.

But you still kept on fighting,

Until the very end.

God saw you getting tired,

When a cure was not to be,

So he put his arms around you;

And whispered "Come to me!".

So When we saw you sleeping,

So peaceful, free of pain.

We could not wish you back,

To suffer that again.

In God's own time,

We will meet again."

Forever remembered and loved,

By your Daughter and Grandaughter.

Jerry Edward Ham

Dec.24/1934 to June 9/1994 age 59

I was the youngest and the only girl in our family of 5..Because of that I was daddy's little girl. and Dad was my big marshmallow teddybear, not because he was big, but because he was mostly always in a good mood and you rarely saw him angry. He always had a joke for me or anyone else. He loved Golf and made sure I had lessons when I was 12, I loved to golf with him, (he always let me drive the cart..*smile*). He also loved going to the movies, it seemed he knew everything about every movie made. He loved to sing and many a time I could hear him singing during the commercials when he watched t.v. *smile*..He had diabeties and in the last year of his life he lost a leg to that disease. His sense of humor not failing, when asked how he was, he would reply "I'm a foot shorter than I was before" or "I have'nt got a leg to stand on". He was, and still is a great man and I'll always love and miss him forever!!

Grandma Ham

Onita Abbey Ham

April 14/1912 to Dec.22/1983

My Grandma Ham was a great lady, Boy she loved life, always had a smile for everyone, and she made the best Christmas Turkey. She always wore bright red lipstick and nail polish, and she always let me paint her fingers and toes *smile*. She used to give me sips of her drink when I did her nails *bigger smile*. I always spent the summers at the cabin with her and she always ate my burnt marshmallows, so they wouldnt go to waste.(sometime I burned them real good to see if she'd really eat them, she always did) She was always laughing and made everyone else laugh too. When she got sick with cancer, she wanted the grand kids to remember her full of life so we didnt get to see her in the last part of her life. Her funeral was on my 16th birthday and knowing what kind of lady she was I tried really hard to put on a smile, just for her. My fondest memories of grandma were at the lake and at her home..Its been many years since she left us and I still miss her terribly..but life goes on and I'm proud to say that I am just like she was. Love you always grandma!

Grandpa Ham

Thomas Edward Ham

Jan.21/1911 to June 28/1986

My Grandpa Ham loved horses. I'm sorry to say but I never really remember sitting down and getting to know him. He was a quiet man and a pillar in the community and was always there when you needed him. I remember I used to follow him around the farm, just watching and learning. He loved all the animals on his farm, strays and pets alike. Lots and lots of kittens roamed the hay loft. A few years after he died I aquired his saddle which he used on his beloved horse "Comet" and I'll never part with it. He died of a stroke and heart attack a few months before his great grandson was born. Despite my not knowing him like I should of, I still loved him dearly.

Grandma Boutin

Jeanne Marie Laura Emilia Boutin/Andrisek

Dec.3/1913 to Nov.7/1994

Grandma Boutin was a tiny little french lady. She did spoil me more than my brothers which probably made them get even at me for it *s*. I remember she always had a story to tell (with her little french accent *s*) She also made great canning stuff and she was also a great cook. She loved fishing and travelling. The pictures I've seen of her in her younger days shows that she was a real outdoors woman and I guess thats where I got it from (Thanks Grandma, I love fishing) I'll always remember when she would sneak a drag of a cigarette, she would say "Can I have a puff" But it always came out a funny way, it kinda wanted to make you giggle *s*. Despite her size 4' 11", you didnt want to get her angry. Her anger wouldnt last long but it was definitly French! Her battle was lost to cancer almost 5 months to the day we lost my dad. (really a hard year on my Mom) Grandma will always be loved and remembered!

Grandpa Boutin

Joseph Aime Boutin

May 2/1906 to Jan.15/1974

I was young when grandpa died, too young to remember anything about him, except he always was smoking. I know he was a outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. I do remember sitting on the stairs when I heard that he died, and I know that he died of a heart attack. Hes part of my heritage and I wouldnt be here if it werent for the people that came before me. For the few memories I have of grandpa, I love you!

Thats the Ham side, all that I know anyway. Now I'll do my Great grandmothers side her last name was "Nuite" and she married Ralph Ham (above). We have alot of history on her side. This is the History Of Edward Alanzo Nuite and Martha Erikson.

Im going to start with the first family member to arrive in North America...its a story, and then I'll just type the names and date like I did above.

Thomas 1 (the Immigrant)

Thomas 1, when 16 years old became an apprentice seaman, signing a contract to that effect with Captain Issac Thompson of Roxbury, Mass. on April 1, 1630 in Yarmouth England.

On April 7, 1630 they sailed from Yarmouth with several ships of Gen. Winthrop fleet. Their ship the "Arabella" landed in Boston July 30, 1630.

In December of that year, Captain Thompson was taken very ill and died. With his death Thomas Edgerly was released from his control.

Thomas seemed to have vanished after the death of Capt. Thompson but apon further investigation it was learned that he had returned to England on Aug. 3, 1631 and some time later had entered Oxford University at Great Milton. He graduated in 1640 at the age of 26 with honors. He was a great student and an honorable man.

In 1650 Thomas returned to America and soon aquired land in Durham, N.H. He was one of the first settlers there, then known as Oyster River Township. At Dover N.H. he became a citizen of America on June 29, 1652.

At a county Court held in Dover he became a Grand Juryman and later was appointed one of seven Judges to the seven provinces of N.H., by the King.

On Sept 28, 1663, Thomas married a young widow named Rebecca Halloway, The father of Rebecca Ault Halloway was John Halloway a constable at Dover, N.H.

The origin of the name Edgerly is made up of two simple words. Edge and Lea - Edge of the meadow or lea.

During the 15th century the name was spelled Edgelea (Edgelea was later changed to Edgerlea). About the 16th century the family decided on one spelling - Edgerly.

We do not know when the first Edgerly was born. We know that they migrated to England from Scotland before 1170. As there is definite proof of several families in England in 1170 but no information can be obtained on them. However the family has been traced back to 1209.

We start our history here from the year 1463 with the birth of William H. Edgerly in England.

William Edgerly was born in Great Milton, Oxforshire England in 1463. He was a wealthy man and landed gentry. William 1 married in 1493 and in 1498 a son was born to him and named Richard.

Richard married in 1533 and a son was born to him in 1539 and named Robert.

Robert married in 1569 and had a son named Francis, born in 1576.

Francis married in 1612 and became the father of Thomas Edgerly (My ancestor) in 1614.

Family ties are precious things

Woven through the years

Of memories of togetherness...

Of laughter, love and tears.

Family ties are cherished things

Forged in childhood days

By love of parents, deep and true,

And sweet familiar ways.

Family ties are treasured things

And far though we may roam,

The tender bonds with those we love

Still pull our hearts towards home.
