An Introduction
to the Modern Day Absurd
When the
"theatre of the absurd" was first formed it was probably
a new concept to people... today every play performed on every
stage is like a play performed in this theatre... absurd... illogical...
shameful... as we look back to the absurd characters we are familiar
with we forget to reflect upon ourselves... and think we are not
like them... we listen to Grandma... we believe what she said
about life... about war... we believe that We are different...
That We in our own manners are unique... but the fact of the matter
is we are all woven into one large circle of life... a circle
with corners and cracks... and an end point... an impermanent
circle drawn time and again... different people use different
writing utensils... diferent people use different mediums... everyone
knows a variety of things.. but together... all of us.. collectively...
know nothing... feel nothing.. but show everything... we pretend
to know to feel to like to love to enjoy to suffocate to suffer
to burn to listen to live to smile to cry to laugh to hurt to
kill to write... but we forget pretensions don't last forever..
pretensions aren't ever lasting... life doesn't last forever..
life is not everlasting... life is a process.. writing is a process...
writing is a malleable process... life is a brittle process...
a plumber is truly better off than an engineer... too much won't
do.. to little won't do... 'too good' is a seasonal festival...
'too bad' is everyday life... as I wrote most of these short stories
I found out how to be realistic.. in being realistic... all you
have to do is think optimistically and then look at reality...
the difference becomes evident... the meaning is then clear...
Grandma only thought you were too young to face reality... she
was planning on telling you someday... that what she said about
life was not true... she didn't mean to slap you... she loves
you... she want you to learn... that you have learnt nothing...
you are learning... you will always be learning... so learn...
life gives you an option... death imposes a deadline...
