As mentioned on my main page... Attitude changes. I have decided to stop being an elitest bitch about the bands I put on my site, or plan to put on my site. This involves a more than a little lessening of my asshole attitude towards things, but it needs to happen. Which means bands that are good but have an element or two that I don't particularly like (Ki, The Sovereign, you get the idea) will be reviewed on the site after I see them again. And in a completely honest, non-jackass way. I started a goddamn local music and soapbox site, and now I need to go through with it. I will start going to as many shows as I can, and this hurts my pride to say this, but if you guys could guestlist me once in a while, it would help. I live on my own, in case any of you hadn't picked up on it, and while I love you all and your music to peices, there are things that are more important.
I've been supporting some of you, in one band or another, for two years. Think about that, k?
I wanna thank the people that have been so KICK ASS to me about the site- I've thought about shutting it down very, very often, but I know now that sometimes people enjoy looking around and that made my mind up as far as keeping it up and working harder on content. And getting rid of my strong, strong bias.
I'm going to dedicate a night or two per week to working on the site. I'm content with the layout and colors, but some of the sections need new graphics, and I need hard content more than anything.
Speaking of our local scene, Brandon from Minus 7 has put together Punk vs. Metal shows for the summer to bring together the different crowds of our local scene. I think that is amazingly fucking badass, he is doing an awesome job booking and running shows as well as doing the sound... The Attic should be on their collective knees thanking him. The first show that went on June 1st had a great attendance and great bands. Look for the second one to kick even more ass.
My best friend and I obsess over press packages, and since we haven't gotten our band going yet (I need voice lessons!) I will be absolutely happy to help anyone- yes, ANYONE- get press packages together. A demo and a bio aren't gonna get you enough attention, kiddos... Just let me know if you're interested.. Since I'd be doing this out of the kindness of my spikey little metalhead heart- in other words, for free.
And just because I am THAT shameless... My birthday is in late August... And since 18 seems to be such an important age, I would like to kick it in with something special. If anyone wants to help me set up a show, or something- let me know. Hell, let me come watch your practice.. Thats a hell of a lot better than what I normally do for birthdays. 2 1/2 months and I am scared as HELL. Anyways.... Thats about it for now.
