UNIT 4 - CONFLICT

Conflict- In this unit we learned about conflict and the mediation process that follows. Conflict is like building a brick wall. Each issue that hasn't been dealt with is one brick on the wall. If their are issues that havent been dealt with, then eventually it builds up a brick wall. After a while that brick wall makes it hard for you and the other person to commuincate with each other because the wall has become so tall. Eventually you start looking for ways to get over the wall but if not dealt with one issue at a time than the wall can come tumbling over on you. Thats where the mediation process comes in place. During the mediation process we used our emotional negotiator(refer back to the first page). This is where you deal with one issue at a time. Also our class got a first hands look on how state licensed mediators deal with conflict during the mediation process. Ross, who is the only non lawyer mediator in the state of NC, showed us how to mediate a conflict using his own tactics that he uses to mediate conflict. Ross mediates personal issues, Church conflicts, and large buisness conflicts. Since this is Ross's own material, we are going to keep the meidation training material within the class, but to find out more on how to learn the mediation process register for the class this summer. It will be a fun and exciting thing to learn.
