Hampton Rushing was born in slavery on the plantation of Jessie Rushing
and was sold the the McCray family, later sold to William Rushing
and was freed from this plantation.
Hampton married Mary Adeline and the had 5 children:
Billy - Louise - Meanne - John and Jim.
Hampton married a second time to Johnnie(Rena) and they had 11
children:
Mattie - Mike - Ike - Jess - Luther - Sherman - George - Sarah and Theadore.
Hampton was a Blacksmith by trade. He helped found Redding Springs Church.
Hampton Rushing passed at the age of 84 years.
