Finally, Here's some more "DO NOT'S!

DO NOT let the hide lay in water (thawed/melted out ice) this creates bacteria and will cause the hair to fall out.

DO NOT place hide and head in a black garbage bag and leave in the sun. This creates heat and Bacteria starts decomposing the skin.

If you are going to freeze the deer head DO NOT put salt on the hide. This will stop the hide from freezing as well. (they put salt on the road to keep it from freezing)

Please DO NOT ride around all day and let the "good ole" boys see your trophy. Once a animal dies the body starts to decompose. Sometimes we can save them sometimes we can not.

Now the work begins! Please follow the below instructions to make sure you skin your deer out correctly!

DO NOT CUT THE BRISKET HAIR OR ARM PITS! If you want a shoulder mount of your deer. This is critical in the end result of your trophy. Once you have the above cuts made, roll the skin up the neck and cut the neck meat, bone off. DO NOT CUT THE HIDE THERE! See photo below.

DO NOT CUT THE THROAT AREA! Leave more skin than is necessary for the type of mount desired. For shoulder mounts and pedestals, cut the skin around the body well behind the front legs. Cut the skin around both legs at the knee joint. Join those cuts up the back of the legs and skin the hide forward to the base of the head. Cut the head off leaving the hide attached. This process is demonstrated in the diagram below.
