January blood drive draws record
48 donors With Mother Nature and the calendar cooperating, Parker-Wood Knights held their third and most successful blood drive to date. Some 48 potential donors came to the St. James Parish Hall on Jan.11, far exceeding the Council’s goal of 35 donors. In addition to scheduled appointments, the drive attracted 18 walk-ins. “I genuinely think the Red Cross likes coming here,” said DGK Rick Seekins, who once again led the successful drive. Knights who prepared the multi-purpose room at the church and assisted Red Cross staffers were: Nick Zanon, Marvin Daniel, Mike Snow, Dick Schaenzer and John Williford, who obtained refreshments for the canteen. Brothers also helped with the initial donor screenings and have been asked to host another event in June. |
