Council Activities:
June monthly business meeting highlights:
+ Retention Committee Chairman Marvin Daniel has submitted a Mentoring Program to assist in the retention of new members.
+ The Council set April 24, 2004 as the date that Council 9365 will host its first-ever Third Degree Exemplification. Brothers are urged to reserve this date on their calendars now as many volunteers will be needed to make this event a success.
  +
Grand Knight Chuck Sullivan reported that the name of St. James' new pastor, Fr. William Upah, has been submitted to the State Deputy as the Council's new chaplain.
+ GK Sullivan reported that the Council has submitted its 2002-03 Columbian Award application to the Supreme Secretary.
+ Brother Greg Brelinsky reported that 20 children have signed up for the 2003 Operation L.A.M.B. Summer Read-A-Thon.
+ Brother Mike Snow reported that receipts from the
Operation L.A.M.B. Tootsie Roll drive in May totaled $2,378.
+ Brother Rick Seekins reported that the June 7 Red Cross Blood Drive received 32 donations despite collections in Oxford and Henderson on consecutive days leading up to the K of C drive.
+ Kudos to Brother Mike Snow for his work on the "Family Knight Out with the Bulls." A total of 36 tickets were sold, and the evening was a great success. A second "Family Knight" has been set for Aug. 15.

+ Kudos to Brothers Dick Schaenzer, James Dutra, John Piccioli and Bill Duffell for their work on Council 9365's hosting of the Bishop McGuiness Fourth Degree Dinner on June 14.
+ Completed plans to lead a Parish Picnic and Farewell Party for Father Bill Long on July 6.

+ The Council honored Grand Knight Chuck Sullivan as the June Knight of the Month.

May monthly business meeting highlights:

+ Grand Knight Chuck Sullivan reported that the Council received several awards at the State Convention held in Charlotte. The Council received Honor Council designation, placed fourth in the state for new money raised -- $1,298 -- for Operation L.A.M.B., received a second place award for the Council's web site and a second place award for its 2002-2003 Scrapbook. The Council also received a Certificate of Appreciation for its newsletter.
+ Elected the following Officers for 2003-2004: Grand Knight Rick Seekins; Deputy Grand Knight Mike Snow; Chancellor James Dutra; Treasurer Dick Schaenzer; Recorder Ernie Major; Warden Marvin Daniel; Advocate Bill Duffell; Inside Guard Bill Coffman; Outside Guard Nick Zanon; 3-Year Trustee: Chuck Sullivan; 2-Year Trustee: Mike Fedewa; and 1-Year Trustee: Ray Hasenfus.
+ The Council agreed to assist in a parish farewell to Father Bill Long, who has been transferred to a parish at N.C. State University effective July 8. The tentative date of June 29 was set for the farewell, which will be a pot luck picnic following the Latino Liturgy. The Council also agreed to lead a welcoming event for our new pastor, Fr. Bill Upah, who will be coming to Henderson from Clinton, NC. The tentative date for that celebration is July 20.
+ Brother Dick Schaenzer reported that the Council will host a 4th Degree Dinner on
Saturday, June 14, at 7 p.m. The evening will begin with the 5 p.m. mass, followed by a coctail hour and dinner. All non-4th-Degree Knights are asked to volunteer to assist in the kitchen. Prospective volunteers should contact Brother James Dutra at 690-8019.
 +
The Council set an emergency work session for Saturday, May 24, at 8 a.m. to work on the Prayer Path, which remains debris-laden from the winter's ice storms. Volunteers should bring garden tools and saws to clear the weeds and debris.
+ The Council agreed to fund and install a concrete slab between the rectory and the rectory garage to channel water away from the buildings and keep the rectory basement from flooding. Brothers Dick Schaenzer and Ray Hasenfus will head the project.
+ Outside Guard Nick Zanon reported gross proceeds State Raffle totaled $975, an increase over the previous year's total. Brother Zanon said that in the future he plans to withhold tickets from those Brothers who historically have not participated.
+ The Council honored 2-Year Trustee: Ray Hasenfus as the May Knight of the Month.
