Scheduling snafu hinders June blood drive; Council still collects 30 pints
Despite local blood drives held on consecutive days immediately prior to the Knights’ effort, the Council was able to add nearly 30 pints to the area blood bank just before the critical July 4 holiday.

For the first time, the Council fell short of its stated goal of 40 pints of blood, however blood drives were held at churches in Oxford and Henderson on the two days immediately preceding the Knights’ drive, thereby reduing the pool of potential donors.

DGK Rick Seekins, who again headed the Council’s effort, said

he plans to contact the Red Cross representative in Durham to ensure the Council’s future efforts are not usurped by poor planning on the past of ARC administrators.

Knights who prepared the multi-purpose room at the church and assisted Red Cross staffers were: John Piccioli, Nick Zanon, Marvin Daniel, Mike Snow, Dick Schaenzer and John Williford, who obtained refreshments for the canteen.

Brothers also helped with the initial donor
screenings and have been asked to host another drive later this year
