MinistryWatch Response
John,
Thank you for writing. We write primarily about Great Commission efforts.
Commenting upon income taxes does not fall within our mission. There are plenty of
other journalists, activists and bloggers tackling that issue.
Thanks,
Michael
My Reply
I’m confused with your statement:
“We write primarily about Great Commission efforts.
Commenting upon income taxes does not fall within our mission.”
But yet on your web site your vision and mission is for Christians to make the right
decisions on giving money to certain ministries that meet your criteria:
Vision
“Wall Watchers' MinistryWatch service will increase the confidence of donors by
providing an independent source of information on Christian ministries to aid them in
making their giving decisions. Greater knowledge of the good works being done by
Christian ministries and insightful analysis of the activities of these ministries can only
lead to higher levels of giving by those who feel called to financially support God's
work.”
Mission Statement
Wall Watchers is a Christ-centered, non-profit organization committed to promoting
biblical principles of stewardship and helping people to apply those principles in their
lives.
By providing quality information services, we seek to contribute to the enlightenment
of the Christian community while empowering Christians with the ministry-specific
knowledge that will lead to increased giving and enhanced ministry accountability.
It’s quite interesting that you evaluate ministries on their accountability but your reply
to me and inform me that your ministry is, “primarily about Great Commission efforts.”
Are you accountability only to the IRS? It seems to be with such a statement not to
upset the government or your method of making income. Plus I don’t see anything on
your Education Center that pertains to the Great Commission.
It would be very beneficial if one of the ministries like your would do some honest
research into this matter. Apparently you don’t hold the government accountable to
anything but what the say.
And last, I didn’t know that the Great Commission was all about financial accountability.
MinistryWatch Response
John,
The ministries we profile are fulfilling the Great Commission (or claiming to).
Monitoring their financial practices, management, transparency, theology and other
considerations certainly help donors know which ministries are fulfilling the Great
Commission, and which ones align with their giving plans. We consider commentary
on the IRS off mission. That is primarily a political issue.
Thanks,
Michael
