EMOTIONAL AND CONVICTING PLEAD
IN THE USE OF MALACHI 3:8

By John Rhinehart

"Will a man rob Go? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' In tithes and offerings"
Ministers love this verse to ‘prove’ to their congregation that they are robbing God placing a ‘guilt trip’ on the believers.

The true is, that you will be robbing God if you don’t honor God with your body:
“You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” 1Cor 6:19,20
This is where the New Testament believer robs God in not living a holy life!

Since the New Testament places no requirement on believers to do those things commanded of the Old Testament Saints, ministers deceive their followers by quoting Malachi as if it applies to today’s believers.

Basically, Malachi deals with the ‘storehouse’ of the Old Testament and today’s believers don’t have temples to go to, to worship God (temple worshipping belong exclusively to Israel, Rom 9:4) New Testament believers ‘storehouse’ is now their bodies. See New Testament Tithing? for further study.
