TWELVE FATAL ERRORS OF THOMAS JEFFERSON’S
DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
By John Rhinehart
It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man—Psalms 118:8
The Declaration of Independence was not based on “Christian” principles. It was written only to give false and misleading information about God and man. It was a trap to ensnare Christians into believing it was God’s will to ‘rebel’ against governments. And it did accomplish its goal as Christian Ministers were swindled into believing a lie. (2Thess 2:11,12; 2Tim 4:2-4) It is far from the truth of God’s Word and this, Thomas Jefferson and all that adhered to this document have become false teachers of the Word of God and preached ‘another Gospel,’ (Gal. 1:6-8).
The following are false and misleading statements by Thomas Jefferson in which the Colonialist believed:
1. People to dissolve governments
“When in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands . . .” [Daniel 2:21—God will do this, not Believers.]
2. The Laws of Nature
“The separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature
and of Nature’s God entitled them . . .”
Chuck Baldwin, Founder-Pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida. http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin114.htm, Speaks of this ‘law of nature’ as if all men have it. Romans 2:14,15—There is no such thing as the “Laws of Nature” when it comes to men in general. Romans 2 speaks of Gentile Believers and the laws of nature pertaining to the ‘Law’ of God (i.e. the Law, 10 Commandments).
"(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) Man before his conversion has no law or conscience:
“As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know. There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Rom 3:10-18
“Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” 1Tim 4:2
The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. Gen 6:5
These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' Matt 15:8,9
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man `unclean.' For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man `unclean'; Matt 15:18
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Ez 36:25-27
3. Truths
“We hold these Truths to be self-evident . . .”
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness” Rom 1:18
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. Rom 1:25
"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me. "What is truth?" Pilate asked. Jn 18: 37,38
Pilate asked Jesus, “What is Truth?” and Jefferson gives us false truths about man and God.
4. Created Equal
“That all Men are created equal . . .”
Gospelcom [http://www.gospelcom.net/faithfacts/cul_bible.html] says that ‘all men are created equal’ and uses these verses to back it up: “Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.” Acts 10:34. To that the Word confirms that,
“For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." Romans 9:8
“From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.” Acts 17:26
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Gal 3:28.
To that the Word confirms that,
“In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.” Romans 9:8
All men are created equal but not in the sense of any rights. All men are equal as “all have sinned” Romans 3:23 and that no one is righteous- Romans 2:10-18. All men live in depravity, they can do “not good” in God’s sight! Their righteous is as filth rags—Isa 64:6
5. Certain unalienable Rights
“That they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights . . .”
The only “rights” we have as humans is the “right to die” because of our sin—Rom 6:23. This can only be found in Christ Jesus, not in some government by the people.
6. Rights (Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness)
“That among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness . . .”
“The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Gen 2:15
“To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, `You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." Gen 3:17-19
“That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil--this is the gift of God.” Eccl 3:13 Those who believe, it is a gift of God.
“A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” Ecc 2:24-26
7. Governments are instituted among men
“That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men . . .”
Governments are not instituted among men but of God—Rom 13:2
8. Deriving their just Powers
“Deriving their just Powers from the Consent (men) of the Governed . . .”
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” Rom 13:1
9. When government becomes destructive
“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends . . .”
Daniel 2:21—God will do this, not believers—“He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them.”
10. People to rebel against governments
“It is their Right, it is their Duty, alter, abolish it or to throw off such Government.”
“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1Tim 2:1-3
“Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.” Rom 13:2
11. Appealing to
“Appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World . . .”
Yet as Hosa 8:4 claims, “They set up kings without my consent; they choose princes without my approval.”
12. Reliance on the Protection of
“With a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence . . .”
To add insult to injury, Jefferson ended the Declaration of Independence with reliance on the “Protection of divine Providence.” If you will notice how godly Jefferson was as he puts the letter “d” in the word “divine”. Now, they rebel against God’s word, and then they had the audacity to ask for protection for their sin! Providence care is only given to believers.
“You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit.” Job 10:12
“Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them." Num 14:9
“I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.” Jn 17:11
