Mary Weary
Mary A. Weary was born on March 17, 1939 in Granville County
North Carolina. Her mother gave birth to Mary, the sixth child, at home but was
delivered by a doctor. Mary has always lived in the same country area all her
life just in different houses but all five minutes from each other. I believe
that Mary Weary is a great Granville County resident, who can be looked up to
with great admiration. She went through a poor childhood and worked hard but
still kept her head high and was extremely happy with all the simple stuff. She
never really got to see segregation or hear about all the wars in detail
because they just lived a quite life in the country. Now that she has grown she
married a husband who she dearly loves and has been married with many years. They
had children, ran their own store and kept principles a very important thing in
the family.
“We were happier then, we didn’t have so much stress and
problems in those days as we have now.”
“Now a day I can’t even keep my bank statement straight without
a calculator and we’re always going to have one so why not use them.”
“Back when my children were small we tried to get everybody
at the table at dinner time but breakfast and lunch. We still tried to get most
everybody at dinnertime at night, my husband and I. I don’t eat till he comes
in.”
