Alma Hammie was born in June 16, 1931 in Granville Count. She has resided in Granville County for 72 years. She has six children that were born and raised during the time that she worked on the farm with her husband. They have been married since 1948.

Mrs. Hammie was my first choice of people to interview because she’s been through so much in the past and she always has a story to tell. She tells you what really happened so you walk away knowing what really went down. It was interesting listening to my grandma before and after the interview. I learned things from her that school couldn’t teach me and I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to interview and ask her questions about her past.
