How to Teach Students to Work in a Business

The first thing a student has to do is to apply for a job, get an application first, and ask the supervisor or the manager on duty to give you one.  You can either fill it out there or take it home, write neatly because for people can read your handwriting. They are not going to test you on your beautiful handwriting or you calligraphy skills, manager need to read the information you provided to them, information about you and why you want to work there.

When you go for an interview, dress neatly, go according to the business attire. If you going to be a mechanic in a garage, where according to what they are wearing, do not wear tube tire around your body.

The basic attire for any business is a beige pants, and a nice decent shirt to match with it. In other words, dress business like, wear according to what people in the business  are wearing.

When you get the job, be on time! Come early, like 10 to 15 minutes prior to your regular schedule time. Ask questions about a specific job that you are going to do.   Asking questions does not hurt, asking questions give you the information you need to know about the business, just ask, even the silliest questions and see what you get. So go ahead and ask.

When you ask, be direct as possible, do not go rambling what happened. Use a little bit of humor to mix it in to get your point across. For complaining, the same thing,  use your humor to get your point across. Do not insult anyone in the business, rumors will fly and watch what you say.

Remember always be nice and polite to customers and your fellow teammates too.

Write your schedule down, do not memorize it, if you memorize it, you might forget that you have to come to work. Especially, if you are active in school and other after school activities. So, write it down, this show that you are responsible

Focus on your job. Do not let distraction bother you. Try to handle it yourself, it shows responsibility. Managers are too busy managing money, doing inventory or running around here and there.

If you need to go on bathroom break or snack break, ask your supervisor on duty.  For you can recuperate. No one wants a grumpy or cranky employee.

Do you know what everybody hates to do? Is cleaning.  Get help by asking one of your teammates, what needs to be done.  By working together, and getting things done will definite make your job quicker and faster, and you go home early.
