Florida has undertaken a major effort to ensure that the state parks system can be used and enjoyed by everyone. These activities, programs, and amenities are accessible to all people, regardless of abilities. Campgrounds, boating and picnic areas, fishing piers, trails, historic sites, and other areas provide facilities that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
All-terrain
wheelchairs are available and located in parks throughout the state.
The Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum, located in Gasparilla Island State Park,
and the Eden Gardens State Park, provide wheelchair lifts. Many parks provide
video programs with an open-captioned version and transcribed copies of audio
programs. Sign language interpreters also are available.
