A MESSAGE FROM FORT JACKSON!!!!
Soldiers in Basic Combat Training will have mail call every day - training schedule permitting.
We encourage you to send uplifting cards, letters, and pictures to soldiers in training.
Soldiers are not allowed to receive any packages containing food, candy, pornographic material or any other contraband.
When a soldier first arrives at Fort Jackson for Basic Combat Training they are assigned to the 120th Adjutant General Reception Battalion where they complete their in processing. On average a soldier will stay there for 3 days before being assigned to a BCT unit. If you have not heard from your soldier you can call the post locator 24 hours a day @ (803) 751-7511. You will need your soldier's full name and social security number. If your soldier is not in the locator that means that they have not completed their in processing and are likely still at the 120th reception battalion. Soldiers in training are very busy. They are not allowed to have visitors during the basic training cycle except at Family Day during graduation week. This is usually on the day prior to graduation.
