A New Generation of Hate
It seems that every day, the newspapers carry a story about some type of hate crime. The Internet has literally hundreds of available web sites that promote white supremacy and other radical views. Unfortunately, this trend toward intolerance is not an adults only phenomenon. Hundreds of American children are being raised as a new generation of “Little Hitlers.”
Many of these children no longer attend public school Their parents have made the decision to teach the children at home rather than have them exposed to differing views. This isolationist attitude provides a compelling argument against the practice of home schooling.
Consider the case of Child X. His father is a member of the Stormfront movement, a radical white supremacist group. According to X, he was attending public school until last year, when he began home school.
X has created a Kid’s Page on the Stormfront web site. On it, he states that “White people are taught in school to be ashamed of their heritage. Teachers cram as many politically correct ideas in your head as they can in 180 days. All the great white accomplishments throughout history are diminished. Therefore I think that now is the time that all of the white people across the globe should rise above the lies and be proud of who we are. To take back our freedom and win for all to see our heritage in its greatest glory.” X is 10 years old.
A brief review of a social studies book used by Harnett County, N.C., 5th graders shows that their curriculum includes the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, the accomplishments of American presidents, who to date have all been white males, and the exploits of such men as Davy Crockett. Yet X believes that white accomplishments throughout history have been diminished.
A prime example of children being taught to follow in the footsteps of intolerant adults can be found by visiting the Internet home page of the Ku Klux Klan. The Klan believes that “A segregated White race will protect itself from alien idolatries.” The Klan membership allows only White Christians of “non-jewish, non-negro, and non-asian descent who are at least eighteen years old. Those under the age of eighteen can join the Klan Youth Corp, with parental consent, and become full-fledged members when they turn eighteen.” The Klan further states that “The Klan is youth-oriented. The young people of today will determine the kind of nation we will have tomorrow. Any movement that wants to make history must win the young. We are.”
Another illustration of the targeting of America’s youth is provided by the National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP). The NAAWP states that one of its objectives is “to protect and prevent our children from further brainwashing by the Zionists in control.”
There are literally hundreds of White Supremacist groups in the United States today. One of the larger groups, Kingdom Identity Ministries, also known as “Christian Identity,” includes in their web site a children’s catalog web page. The page is filled with books and stories selected for their illustration of Christian Identity ideologies. Given the fact that Christian Identity believes that God’s Chosen Race “consists of the true Israel, the White European peoples,” it seems safe to conclude that tolerance for other races or cultures is not high on their list of priorities.
A visit to the Kingdom Identity Ministries’ “guest book” provides a chilling look at the attitudes of some parents. An individual from Idaho left a message stating, “I have a 3 year old son, he is proud of his race, and I will make sure he is raised the “WHITE WAY” the Aryan way! Great web site and I am glad you are helping the younger ones. Keep up the good work and spread the true word! WHITE POWER!”
These organizations and individuals come from different backgrounds. They live in different areas of the United States. Yet their attitude of intolerance for others has permeated the entire country. Similar examples can be found in every one of the 50 states. Unfortunately, the Ku Klux Klan is correct about one thing. The young people of today will determine what kind of nation we will have tomorrow. These close-minded, narrow viewpoints will not stop with the parents. These viewpoints are being passed on to the next generation. Until the cycle can be broken, mankind will never know the possibility of world peace.
