Simply put, kiriban is a thank you.
The idea comes from Japanese sites. Something you'll see often is the kiriban, or 'hit gift.' A number is selected and the visitor the site who matches the choosen number to the number on the counter wins a request. This is how one thanks the patrons of their site for visiting.
Some people do picture requests, some do fanfiction requests, some do wallpaper requests. Here at h i t o r i, I do drawing requests. I'll draw whatever you want me to, just for you, because you were kind enough to come to my site. Well, that's not quite true, there are a few limitations, but it's nothing big.
Once a kiriban is drawn, then it finds its way home to the main or splash page of the site where it should stay until the next kiriban is won. I've missed a few kiribans and took down #100 prematurely because I was sick of looking at it. The kiriban is the exclusive property of the person who won it and he or she may do whatever they want with it.
So if you land on the number, which is displayed underneath the counter, please save it as .bmp or .gif and send it in.
