Buncombe County
Rescue is certified at the EMT- Intermediate level as an Advanced Life
Support Provider with the State of North Carolina. We have two EMS
units, a 1994 Ford Type I and a 1995 Ford Type I. In addition, the
Chief's car is equipped as an EMT- Intermediate Quick Response Vehicle (QRV)
for initial response and initiation of patient care.
The paid crew's operate on 2 rotating shifts working 3 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, and 7 days off on 12 hour shifts per day. They respond to emergency and non-emergency calls throughout Buncombe County and are dispatched by the Buncombe County Emergency Operations Center, located in downtown Asheville. Currently, we have 4 full time EMT- I's and 3 part time EMT-I's. Volunteers may be active in the EMS division to the extent of their certification.
