Chapter Thirteen

"Em, will you please tell me why we are here?" Anita hissed as her and Emily huddled in a dark book isle of the town library. Emily had literally draged Anita there without telling her why. Emily smirked and then pulled out the photograph of Jaida and the boy who looked like Taylor. She gave it to Anita and her eyes wend wide and her jaw dropped open, just the reaction that Emily was looking for.

"He looks like Tay doesn't he?"

"Those eyes.... where did you find this?"

"Jaida's draw... she thought I was getting ready for the party, she's such a moron! I am so going to get Taylor back" Emily exclaimed happily. "Speaking of the party... can you tell me how Zane found out where Jaida was?" Anita looked at Emily with guilty eyes. "What the hell were you thinking? You could have ruined everything I've been working for! You're just damn lucky I found this!" Emily scolded, holding up the photograph.

"I'm sorry! It slipped!"

"I'll give you it slipped!" Emily hissed. Before Anita could speak again, a librarian poked her head around the book shelf and peered at the two teenage girls.

"Can I help you ladies?" She asked. She was an old woman, around her mid 60's. Emily smiled and nodded.

"Actually, you could. Have you ever seen this boy before?" She asked, walking forward and handed the picture to the woman. She studied it, deep in thought. "Well?" Emily asked.

"You know what?.. I think I have... what was the boys name again?" She asked. Emily was stumped.

"I ah... I don't know.. sorry.. I was kinda hoping you could help me with that one." Emily said, a half grin spreading across her face. Anita said nothing,.she didn't want to screw things up even more.

"Well, I do beleive I saw this face... both faces actually, in one of last years news papers. Horrible accident it was.. the boy didn't survive.. I don't know about the young girl here... I'll go see if I can find the article for you... just wait here." The woman said, handing the photograph back to Emily.

"Thankyou." Emily said sweetly. One the libarian was out of ear shot Emily turned to Anita excitedly. "Did you hear that??.. an accident! Bad thing the guy died though.. he's a cutie.. almost as cute as my Taylor.. still, I can't get over how much Taylor lookes like this guy!"

"I know... but this guy might not be who that lady thinks he is... "Anita said. Then something suddenly clicked. "Ohmygod! Em I know who he is! I know exactly who that guy in the picture is! Lucas Hanson. He was in a car accident last year... his drunk girlfriend..... Victoria.... was driving... she lost control of the car and smashed it into a tree or something." Anita exclaimed.

"Geez! thats right! I remember that! it was all over the news! Hanson.... could he have been somewhat related to Tay? Oh shit! Anita he was! Remember... Taylor and his family went away for ages around the time the accident happened... could they have been going to Lucas's funeral? Oh my poor baby!" Emily cried. "He was going though all that pain and he never said a word to me! We were together then to!"

"Oh Em.. I'm sure he didn't want to burden you with his problems... I mean, you were going though all that shit with your Dad.." Anita consoled her friend. "What we need to work out now, is how Jaida knew Lucas..."

"Here we are girls... took a while to find it, but I did." The libarian said, appearing with a old news paper article in her hand. She gave it to Emily with a smile.

"Thanks!" Emily said enthusiastically.

"You're welcome dear." She said. Then turned and walked away.

"Come on." Emily said, making her way out of the Library. Anita followed without a word.

The events of the party had left a sour taste in my mouth and Taylor had thrown a fit when he was told by Zane what had happened. He hadn't seen any of the guys as far as I knew and I didn't know if I wanted him to. I just wanted to forget the whole thing.

"This is great."

"What is?"

"This! Being alone, not one soul to bother us.. I love it!"

"Oh yeah? Why's that?"

"What do you think?" Taylor asked, leaning forward to tenderly kiss me on my forehead. He was feeling better and had been allowed out of the house for the first time in two weeks. I smiled.

"It is nice, isn't it?" I murmured, snuggling into Taylor. Taylor and I were alone in my house. My parents were away for the weekend and as hard as it was for me to beleive, it was the first time we had been competely alone since Taylor had first asked me out. Kaara hade gone home a week ago and Zac had been heartbroken when she left. But they had both promised to write and Zac had already received 4 letters from Kaara. We were lying on the sofa, I was wrapped up in Taylors stong, muscular arms. I loved it. We weren't getting all hot and heavy... which I was actually pretty greatfull for. We had decided... or more like I told Taylor, that we didn't need to have sex just to prove how much we were starting to love eachother. I wanted to wait and Taylor respected my wishes, although I could tell he was a little disappointed. This was the first chance we had had to just talk.

"So...." Taylor said. I smiled. "Tell me more about your past...".My smile faded.

"My.... my past?... well.. there's nothing really to tell.. you know I'm from Denver, and that we came here to get a fresh start at life.."

"Yeah, but you haven't told me why you and your parents needed a fresh start.... what happened Jaida? What could be so bad that it made your parents move you to a different state?" Taylor asked, sitting up and looking me in the eye.

"What makes you think it was anything bad? Nothing happened Tay... Mom and Dad just wanted a change is all...." I paused, waiting for Taylor to say something. He didn't. I sighed. "Well... you can beleive what you want Tay.. it's the truth." I said, getting up and walking though the kitchen and out to the backyard. He followed me.

"Jaida... I do believe you... why wouldn't I?" He said, sliding his arms around my waist. He was standing behind me. He kissed my neck then turned me around to face him.

"Ok... sure..." I mumbled, looking at the slate tiles that covered the patio area. Taylor raised his hand and turned my head gently around and our lips met.

"I love you Jaida." He whispered, once we had parted. I looked lovingly into his sky blue eyes and I saw that he meant it. I smiled.

"And I love you Taylor." I said. Before we could kiss again, the shrill ring of the phone echoed thoughout the house and to our ears. Taylor groaned. I started to return to the house, but Taylor kept a firm grip around my waist.

"Ignore it!" He pleaded.

"Tay... it could be my parents!" I protested. "If I don't answer it, they'll probably think something is wrong and come straight home! Now, we don't want that do we? Not if you're planing to spend the night!" I exclaimed. The last part of my statement startled Taylor and his grip loosened just enough for me to escape. I rushed inside and picked up the wall phone in the kitchen. "Hello?" I said breathlessly.

"Well.. it's about time, I was just going to hang up!"

"Sorry Kim..I was held up... whats up?" I asked my best friend, slightly annoyed at being interrupted.

"Well... Ike and I were just gonna go see a movie... and I though we could make it a double date... whatcha think?" She asked. It took me all of two seconds to answer. There was no way I was going to give up an an afternoon alone with my boyfriend.

"Sorry sweetie, but I'll have to get a raincheck on that one..." I told her. Kim laughed, she knew Taylor and I were alone and she got the message.

"Ok... no problem.. have fun.." She said, still laughing. We said our goodbyes and I hung up the phone. I was just about to return to Taylor when the phone rang again.

"Hello?" I said, picking it up on the thrid ring.

"Jaida? Hi... it's Anita.." A small voice said on the other end. I smiled.

"Hi Anita!"

"I'm just going to tell you once Jaida.... Victoria..... stay away from him." She snapped. My smile faded fast and my heart froze. Anita had called me Victoria.

"Wha.....what? Anita... what are you talking about?" I stammered.

"We have infromation Victoria... we know everything! Stay away from Taylor or we will tell him .... every single thing. We'll be watching." Anita hissed. The phone line went dead and so did my heart. I couldn't believe it. I had a feeling of dread that my happy little world was about to be turned upside down. I placed the phone in its cradle and walked outside. The first thing I did was look around the yard. No sign of them. Taylor, however, was sprawled out across a lounge chair, sun glasses on and it looked as if he were alseep. I walked over to him and sat down on the chair next to him.

"Hey... who was that?" He asked, sitting up. He could instantly see that I was upset about something. "Whats wrong baby?" He asked, his voice full of concern. He got up and sat beside me, his arm immediately sliding arcross my shoulder. He felt me tense up.

"Noth... nothing ... it was Kim.. she wanted us to go to the movies with her and Ike.. I declined.. hope you don't mind.." I explained, trying to smile at him.

"No.. not at all... gives us all the more time alone.... speaking of which.. whats this about me spending the night huh?"

"Oh... forget it.. I only said it so you would let go of me.... don't even think... you've already thought haven't you?" I sighed. Taylor's smile answered my question. I rolled my eyes and looked up at him. Even though we were sitting down, he was still taller than me.

"Please?.... we don't have to do anything you don't want to... it would be nice to spend the night with eachother... come on Jaida..." Taylor reasoned. I pretended to think for a few minutes, just to torture him, then smiled. I would feel safer with him at the house, and as long as I was with him, Anita wouldn't be able to get anywhere near Taylor. "Alright...it should be ok with Mom and Dad.. I'll just tell them that you didn't want to be left alone in the house and that I'm staying with you." Taylor looked at his watch. "I'll go home now and just grab a few things... I'll be back in about an hour.. better have lunch with the family... hey, why don't you come?"

"Nah... I've got a few things to do around here... I'll see you when you come back." I said, kissing him lightly on his lips. He got up and I followed him to the front door.

"See you later babe." He said, walking down the front steps. I closed the door and returned to the phone, hoping Kim was still home.
