"Jaida! Somene's here to see you" Mom called up the stairs the next morning. I was in my room and didn't hear a word she said as I had my music blaring. Soon there was a knock on my door.
"Door's open" I called out. The door opened and a girl walked in. I saw through my mirror that it was Emily! I turned around and faced her.
"Hi" She said, a little nervously. I eyed her as I turned down my music.
"Um, hi... I don't mean to be rude but, what are you doing here?" I asked. Emily looked down at the floor, she appeared to look ashamed.
"I guess you have a right to ask that question... I haven't exactly welcomed you with open arms have I?"
"You got that right"
"Yeah, well.. I came to apologise... I know Kim's told you what I've been saying to her about you... I found out last night. Kim told me to give you a chance... she also told me to get over Taylor.. that you and him make a great couple... and well, she's right.. I do need to get over him... Jaida, I'm sorry about the way I've been acting ever since I met you." Emily said. It was the most I'd ever heard her say to me that wasn't rude or insulting. I sat down on my bed and looked at her.
"You mean, you know how childish you looked that day Taylor and I got together? And you know that you wont get Taylor back?" I asked. Emily nodded and bit her lip. Kaara then chose to come barging into my room squealing that Zac had asked her to the movies.
"JAIDA!!! HE FINAlLY ASKED ME!!!!!!!" She screamed, running over to me and flinging her arms around my neck. Both of us went falling back onto my bed. I laughed and pulled myself up.
"That's great.. but we'll talk about it later" I said. Kaara then noticed Emily.
"Hi"
"Hello... I'm Emily"
"Kaara... I'm Jaida's cousin"
"Really? that's cool. So, you're going out with Zac?" Emily asked, I knew she was trying to start a conversation. Maybe she was genuine with her apology. Kaara beamed.
"Yup! Well.. not as a couple, but we're going to the movies on Friday"
"Great.. Zac's really nice.. he's always been great to me... Friday.. Oh! That reminds me, Jaida.. there's a party on Friday night. I was wondering if you and Taylor wanted to go? He's probably heard about it already..."
"You're inviting me to go?"
"Yeah... sort of a peace offering. There'll be heaps of kids from school there, so you can meet everyone before school starts again... oh, there's gonna be alcohol there to... and probably drugs.. that ok with you?" Emily asked, she was starting to relax. She sat down on my floor while Kaara and I stayed seated on my bed.
"I spose so... alcohol I'm ok with... drugs get to me though... I wont touch them"
"No one will bully you into taking them... usually, if you want any, you ask"
"Oh.. well... I don't think I'll even drink" I said, blushing as I remembered the night at Kimberly's. Emily shrugged.
"That's cool... anyway I really have to be going now... I told Mom that I wasn't going to be long." Emily said, getting up. I stood up to and Kaara stayed seated.
"Oh, okay... I'm glad you came to talk to me. It's good that we can be friends" I said. Emily smiled.
"Yeah... I'm happy to.." She said. The two of us made our way downstaris and to the front door. Once Emily had left, I turned around and went straight for my phone. Taylor wasn't going to believe this.
As Emily was walking away, she had a huge smile on her face. Anyone who looked at her would know that she was happy. Emily was thrilled that her talk with Jaida had gone well. She was thrilled because this was the first step to getting Taylor back. There's something about you Jaida... and I'll find out... just you wait.. I'll find out what it is, and then I'll use it to get my baby back.. Emily thought. Taylor still loves me. And all I have to do is get Jaida out of the picture.. then he'll see how much he still loves me. Those thoughts streamed in Emily's head as she walked down the path to the corner of the street. She gazed wistfully at Taylor's house when she passed it.
"Did you talk to her?" Anita asked. Emily nodded.
"Uh huh.. she belived every word to"
"Thats a good thing right?"
"What are you? An idiot? Of course it's a good thing! in no time at all I'll have Taylor back! I'll steal him right out from under that bitch. I'll find out what she's hiding.. and then I'll make my move.. He's going to be mine again Anita." Emily said as she started walking in the direction of her house. Anita rolled her eye's and followed her. She was only in on this because she wanted Taylor for herself.
