how I long to see the sun rise with you
sharing our time on a blanket
shards of sunlight glint off the water
at the end of the world
whispers of deepest secrets and desires
float from our lips to the breezes
glistening sand mirrors the sky
as the tumbling sea slips back off of the land
your simple beauty
conquering my heart
capturing my soul
I gaze upon your visage
as you lay dreaming in the morning air
your light summer dress laying over you
nearly shear
clings to your every curve
slanted golden dawn
highlights the rise and fall of your slumber
light whispers of your breath and breeze
pounding of my heart and surf
all mingle as one
my mind plays wantonly with thoughts of unspoken things
that might have been...
might be...
if you were to awake...
sighing with the breeze I let it waft away my thoughts
and simply cover you with my jacket
I take note of your serene countenance as the sun
reflects off of your golden hair
pushing aside a stray wind blown strand
with my fingertips
I realize my fortune of knowing you at all
and rejoice to share a bit of time with you
so I gently lie beside you
sheltering you from the chill of the breeze
warming our souls
and hold you to my satisfaction
