Heart Holder

My feelings once hidden are now on display
And into your hands I now my heart lay
Fragile and tender it lies open, bare
And all of my passions are laid for you there
It aches to respond to your gentle touch
To be caressed with your warmth that it desires so much
To be moved and stirred and by your passions taken
To a fresh plane of emotion, my heart will awaken

You are charged with its care to be its defender
You are my heart's champion, there is no other contender
To ward off the darkness and stem off all fright
It is your wings of love that give my heart flight
To soothe and to comfort when doubts it assail
To make it trust and believe that your love will prevail
Your embrace shelters my heart, its fears to disarm
Enfold it in your hands and protect it from harm

Keep it safe, hold it close, and look deep inside
For there you will see that you warmly abide
As you hold my heart, you there deep within dwell
As you bear my heart up, it bears you up as well
You are there in my heart as you hold onto it tight
You know the untold desires I keep through the night
You see through my heart and you know it well
You are privy to things that I dare not tell

I put my heart in your care and entrust you alone
To guard, keep, and treasure as it is your own
My heart lays in your hands open to view
You are my heart holder and my heart holds you.
