Shiatsu is designed to release blocks in the circulation and energy flow, and to detox the organs, glands, muscles, and nerves. The restoration of good circulation to all the tissues helps support the immune system and stimulates the body's natural ability to heal. Shiatsu has evolved from its Chinese and Japanese roots to integrate a variety of techniques including pressure, stretching and exercise.
A typical session with will be performed on the massage table. I will use my fingers, palms, thumbs, elbows and knees to apply a comfortable pressure. The depth of pressure varies from gentle to firm according to your comfort level and preference. Pressure can easily be adjusted and should be firm yet never invasive. The only acceptable pain feels like a "good" pain, one that is tolerable and indicates the release of tension. I may also assist you in slow stretches and movements of your joints and muscles in ways that work your meridians.
