Reflexology is a term that refers to the stimulation of the feet, hands or ears in order to affect other parts of the body through the nerves. The nerve endings in the hands, feet, and ears contain a representation or “map” of the entire body that can be stimulated to enhance the natural healing processes.
My primary focus during the session is on the feet and hands.
Benefits of a Reflexology Session
Reduces Stress and Induces Deep Relaxation -- Our body functions by messages carried back and forth along neural pathways made up of sensory nerve endings. During a sesson, as many as 7,000 nerves can be stimulated in the feet opening and clearing these neural pathways.
Improves Circulation -- Stress and tension can tighten the cardiovascular system and restrict blood flow. During a session, by reducing stress and tension levels, miles of cardiovascular vessels can conduct the flow of blood naturally.
Cleanses the Body of Toxins -- The body has built-in mechanisms for cleansing itself with the lymphatic, excretory, and integumentary systems using the lymph nodes, kidneys, colon, and skin. If these become blocked, toxins build up in the body. A session can help the systems function efficiently.
Balances the Whole Body -- For the body to be healthy, everything must work together. A session provides the body with a tune-up to promote balance.
Revitalizes Energy -- Energy can be both exciting/invigorating or calm/restful. Based on the polarity theory, energy must flow easily between the negative and positive poles. Blockage can cause a decrease in the body's energy level. A session can help open the energy pathways and revitalize the body.
Please note: Reflexology is not a foot massage and is not medical treatment. A session will neither diagnose nor treat an illness. Reflexology is a channel of healing. While it can not cure, energy can be focused on areas needing the extra attention.
