How to Get Involved in Missions Projects

Members of the church have taken Christ's command to "Love one another as I have loved you" to heart. Believing that everyone, regardless of age, has something to contribute, the Church has become quick to volunteer its services for a wide range of mission projects.

Hurricane Floyd Relief Team

In the fall of 1999, we have taken on efforts to help our fellow North Carolinians in the eastern part of the state to recover from the effects of flooding and wind damage caused by a series of hurricanes that year. In October, Pastor Richard led a team of volunteers to the Goldsboro area to hlep families rebuild and have their hope restored.

Restoring a Flooded Home - Deacon Homer Robinson

We ministered to two families over two days, doing "mud-outs", removing the damaged drywall and flooring in damaged homes so that the process of drying out could begin. A second team returned to the area in November to continue the process. Damage caused by the storms was so extensive that the recovery effort will continue for years to come.

In 2000, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina began a new missions project with the state of Alaska, and Pleasant Gap will once again be in the forefront of those who will be there to lend a hand and share the love of Christ with those who have not heard. Roll up your sleeves and join us!

Construction of Scenery Park Baptist Church in East London, South Africa

The partnership with South Africa continues through the year 2001. Pleasant Gap has sent 3 teams of volunteers during the life of the partnership, conducting activities ranging from evangelistic services to church construction. We have also welcomed Rev. Dennis "Hoppy" Pohlmann, Pastor of Amalinda Baptist Church in East London, South Africa, to visit with us and to share his church planting work with other churches.
