Visiting D.C.Mike's mom and Aunt Doris got the chance to visit us at the beginning of October - they even got to be here for Michael's birthday! We had a great visit and spent most of the week touring the area, including Occoquan, a scenic town on the water, as well as our nation's capital.

The White House
We were lucky enough to get tickets to the White House from a friend of my dad's. With the tickets, we were given a free walking tour through several rooms in the East Wing of the White House. Here's a shot of everyone in front of the gates. |

Since Mike's family had been here in the past, they already had the chance to do some touring. They had never been to the Arlington Cemetary. We even got to visit the Eternal Flame at JFK's gravesite. |
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
We also had the chance to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It's amazing - there is always someone marching back and forth in front of the Tomb, 24 hours a day, every day of the year! |
