Day of the Tentacle:
Day of the Tentacle is undoubtedly one of the more brilliant adventure games I have played. The plot is quite interesting, although the true genius is in the interface. As in the original Maniac Mansion, you have control over multiple characters. The twist is in the way that the three characters interact together to solve a puzzle, either by sending items back and forth (through the Chron-O-John time machine) or by changing events in the past to affect the future. The only flaw in this system is that the "future scenario" character (Laverne) has a very limited range of things to do, especially compared to the "past-scenario" character (Hoagie).

Another aspect of the game is the recurring characters, kind of like the way that Michael J. Fox played his own son and daughter in the 'Back to the Future' movies. A Dr. Fred look-a-like can be found in the past cranking away in the invention lab, while Benjamin Franklin makes a reappearance in the present as a pratical joke salesman.

Besides the twisted plot, another enjoyable part of the game is the sheer number of jokes and humorous reference. However, this may cause some difficulties for players who are not familiar with American sayings and some assumed knowledge (like the story of George Washington and the cherry tree). It is also easy to get stuck on a puzzle, simply because there are many puzzles which require multiple steps to solve. However, if you have the patience, this game is well worth the effort.
