Every kind of music in the music industry, including rock, has orginated from two simple types called The Blues and Rhythm and Blues. The major influences that branched off of blues and rhythm and blues are Bluegrass, Boogie-Woogie, Gospel, Jazz, Rockabilly.

From there, things went on into the 1950's where music was all about the teenagers and their jukeboxes, poodle skirts, and leather jackets. The black rhythm and blues prospects and white entrepreneurships combined to form the alleged "Rock n' Roll" era in the beginning. You had the Doo-Wop Groups, Rhythm and Blues Groups, and rockabilly's such as Elvis "The King" Presley, and Friends.
*They say that Elvis Presley was the KING because he was the one single man that revolutionized the doo-wop/gospel sounds into the real "rock n' roll" attitude.
