Western North Carolina
Laboratory Analyst Association
Wastewater Professionals
“Protectors of the
Environment”
Our last meeting was held at Western Piedmont Community
College in Morganton, North Carolina.
The topic was ion selective electrodes, with emphasis on pH and ammonia
analyses. The presenter was Mr. Peter
Poczatek from Thermo Electron Corporation.
We would like to extend our THANKS to our presenter for providing an
informative and interesting presentation.
A THANKS is also extended to Penny Peeler and the staff at Western
Piedmont Community College for providing the meeting room for the presentation. Please remember that this type of
generosity is why we are able to continue to provide educational programs at
little cost to attendees. (**SEE NOTE Below with regard to dues for 2006.)
Our
next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 16th, 2006 and will be
hosted by the Town of Mooresville at the Charles Mack Citizens Center (in ‘The
Merchant’ Room) Please note…The Town
will be providing a MEAL for everyone!
Therefore, it would be greatly appreciated if you could email or phone
NICOLE JOHNSTON or WHITNEY MUNROE about the number who will be attending from
your municipality or facility. (PLEASE
SEE BELOW FOR CONTACT INFORMATION.)
Our speakers will be Chet Whiting and Gary Francies and possibly a few other regulatory officials from NC DENR. It’s time for our annual “Ask the Auditor” meeting. Here is your opportunity to ‘ask anything’ and have a chance to talk “off the record” with these regulatory individuals. So, come prepared with lots of questions for the NC DENR guys!
Further, Chet will be presenting a program on “Good Laboratory Practice.” This presentation is only to provide a refresher for both experienced lab analysts or even for ‘newbies’ in this field for good practice ‘habits’ to maintain while working in the lab.
Remember:
Attendees who stay the entire two hours will earn 2.0 contact
hours for use toward annual recertification contact hours.
We
hope to see you at the March meeting!
