Thoughts for the Day:
Today's text is difficult. Jesus talks about "The Narrow Door". The picture he paints is very sad. Some people are left outside...and the owner answers, "But I don't know you".
Not only does the thought of some being left out scare us, it also makes Jesus very sad. Look at verse 34, "...how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings..."
Last Wednesday night, our Senior High Missions Group talked about the difficulty of sharing our faith in a world where nobody wants religion pushed on them. We don't want to offend our friends and classmates...and we don't want to embarrass ourselves...but at the same time, if we take this text seriously, and we care about people, should we not have a sense of urgency to tell them about Jesus?
What can you do this week to share Christ's love through your lifestyle?
What can you do this week to share Christ's love through your service to others?
What can you do this week to share Christ's love through your words?
Fasting Update:
Elizabeth Sasser is a good woman. She went to the grocery store Sunday night while I was at church and unbeknownst to me, got all my favorite food items! It sure is a lot easier to fast by "not eating out" when you can come home to some Breyers mint chocolate chip ice cream!!! (No offense to those of you who gave up chocolate this year!)
Are there people who are helping you with your fast? Be sure to thank God for those special friends and family members!
