Lenten Devotional Guide - March 15

Today's Scripture Reading:
Luke 8:22-39

Thoughts for the Day:
The disciples freaked out. The storm was raging out of control and they thought they were going to drown. Jesus calmed the storm and then asked them, "where is your faith?"

Are there areas of your life that are like a storm? What would happen if you gave those situations over to God?

In the second part of our reading, Jesus heals a man possessed by evil spirits. The people of the region were so afraid by this that they asked Jesus to leave.

Could it be that the reason we don't ask God to do more in our lives is that we're afraid it would change EVERYTHING?

Are there some areas in your life that need a drastic change? Take time now to talk to God about this. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (II Corinthians 5:17)

Fasting Update:
There are definately some advantages to my not eating out during Lent. Whenever I go out for lunch, I just about always grab a USA Today newspaper. Well, folks, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that at 50 cents a day for say, 20 days in a month...that's TEN BUCKS down the tubes!!! And that doesn't even count the money I save on food!

But now the spiritual question, what do I do with the money I save during these 40 days? I have some ideas, but I'm curious, what would YOU do?

Let me know...and have a great day! Tomorrow's a Teacher Workday! WAHOO!
