Lenten Devotional Guide - March 13

Today's Scripture Reading:
Luke 7:36-50

Thoughts for the Day:
This is the beautiful story of the woman who washes Jesus' feet with her tears.

I've read this passage many times before but today there is one verse that jumps out at me. Verse 47: "...but he who has been forgiven little loves little."

Have you ever thought about that? The ability to love comes from the experience of being forgiven! Lent is a time to confess our sins and ask for God's forgiveness...and then to "go in peace" as Jesus told the woman in today's story.

Have you experienced true forgiveness in your life?
- If not, I invite you to come talk with me or someone in our church about what the Bible says about God's grace and forgiveness.
- If so, do you live like a person that has been forgiven?
- Take time now to talk with God about what is going on in your life and the areas where you need God's grace. Remember I John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

Fasting Update:
I have really been encouraged by my Christian brothers and sisters during Lent. I thought "not eating out" was hard...

But Lara Whalley (of "King Jesus is All" fame) is going without television AND between-meal snacks! Holy frioles! No snacks???? No Popcorn? No Cheese Nips? Not even a...Hot Pocket?

And then there is Matthew Lineberger. He's going without ANY animal products. That means no meat, cheese, milk, ice cream, butter, etc.! I'm definately inspired by Matthew's fast...I just hope he doesn't wither away into nothing over these 40 days!

Seriously, it's good to know that others are going through this experience too. That makes me want to do my absolute best with my fast. Thank you for your encouragement...and keep the faith!
