Lenten Devotional Guide - March 1

Today's Scripture Reading:
Luke 1:26-56

Thoughts for the Day:
Once again, it is a woman who seems to be the model of faith. Yesterday it was Elizabeth. Today it is Mary. Look at what she says in verse 38.

How would you have responded to the news she received that day?

Has there been a time when you were truly able to say, "I am the Lord's servant."?

How can you commit to being the Lord's servant with your Lenten fast this month?

Fasting Update:
One thing's for sure...if I'm going to keep my fast of "not eating out" during Lent, I absolutely HAVE to go to the grocery store! I've already cleaned out the cupboard and we're only one day in!

Dr. Bland led a very interesting service on the Season of Lent last night. He called on us to really make Lent a time of repentence. To repent means to confess your sins and then turn in a new direction. I John 1:8 says, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."

As I try to refrain from eating fast food this month, I am aware that sometimes sin is very subtle. Eating out all the time is wasteful to the environment, bad for my health, and expensive on the wallet . But it's so easy and comfortable. And those french fries taste sooooo good! Hmmmm...freeeench friiiiiesssss...

Have a great day...and hang in there!
