It's official! This year for Lent, I have decided to give up "eating out". There are a couple reasons I chose this particular form of "fasting":
1. I eat out too much!!! I admit it, I'm addicted to fast food! It's a rare occasion that I don't eat a meal without french fries!!! I know (deep down inside) that this is poor stewardship of my money and my health.
2. It seems REALLY hard. I learned from my experience with Lent last year (going without T.V. for 40 days) that even my so-called "big" sacrifices seem small considering the sacrifice that Christ made for me. Simply the fact that I'm not sure if I can really do it let's me know that my dependence on God will be greater these next 40 days.
Today is Mardi Gras...or "Fat Tuesday". Traditionally, people have "endulged" themselves on this day before they begin the solemn journey of Lent. Although there is nothing particularly spiritual about Mardi Gras, today I'm planning to live it up to the fullest...and "pig out" at the Village Inn Pizza buffet!!!
For Ash Wednesday is on the way...

So what are you doing for Lent this year?
If you decide on some form of fasting, be sure to read Matthew 6:16-18 before you start!
