Lenten Devotional Guide - April 12

Today's Scripture Reading:
Luke 22:1-53

Thoughts for the Day:
Today is Maundy Thursday. There will be a special service tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. I hope you will come. We will observe the Lord's supper and reflect on that last night that Jesus had together with his disciples.

Pay special attention to verses 24-26. Jesus modeled this style of servant leadership not only with his life but also with his death. Take some time today to think about your life. Are you someone who serves or someone who seeks to be served? How would your friends and family members answer this question about you?

Fasting Update:
I'm glad I have fasted for Lent this year. It has been a very valuable spiritual exercise for me. The fast, along with the readings and the prayer times have helped me walk alongside Christ for these 40 or so days. But now we are coming to the end of the Lenten journey. And that journey has led us to the foot of the cross.

For me, giving up "eating out" was just an exercise. But for Jesus, giving up his life was a matter of opening up the door to eternal fellowship with God the Creator.

"This is my body given for YOU; do this in remembrance of me."

May the peace of Christ be with you,
- k
