I didn't get take my sister out for her birthday lunch like I planned. I didn't tell her I was going to take her out - I wanted to surprise her. I know she doesn't read Castle Bisset until the afternoon when her day is calm so I thought a surprise lunch was in order. But the surprise was on me. Her real estate agent beat me to the punch and had already booked her for the meal. But she was nice enough to suggest that I could give her a rain check. Yep, she's part of the family - never pass up a free meal!
So lady Laura and I decided to continue my quest. Oh? I didn't tell you about my quest?
My quest officially begun several weeks ago. No Taco Bell will go ... unturned? ... uncovered? ... ah ... Iím not really sure what word applies here, but suffice it to say Iíll be visiting a lot of Taco Bells in the next year, and so will Lady Laura because she is very supportive of this quest and also has an appetite that is sometimes bigger than mine - but that stinker just won't put on the extra pounds I have.
A few weeks ago I visited the Taco Bell in town. No luck. They didnít even have the full menu, much less the fabled and elusive Chili Cheese Burrito (or CCB as I will call if from now on due to my typing laziness.) So, that was disappointing. However, quests arenít meant to be easy so I continued on with high hopes and a growling tummy.
My next stop in the quest was Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Specifically, the one near the VA hospital. There is a Taco Bell less than a mile from the hospital and as we pulled into the parking lot I immediately had a very good feeling about it. We stopped by after my cardiac check-up (yes, I see the irony but my doc said I could splurge once in a while because my heart is doing well) and pulled up to the drive-thru, my heart was pounding as I perused the burrito menu ... and ... nothing. I mean, they had burritos, but they didnít have THE burrito, the one burrito to rule them all. You let me down Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania Taco Bell.
Later, upon further introspection I realized the ďgood feelingĒ I had about the Wilkes-Barre Taco Bell could probably have been better classified as ďhungerĒ. Iím going to have to watch out for that in the future.
The quest continues. Tomorrow we're heading to Danville - I hear there's a new Taco Bell out near the Interstate.
Also, it has been suggested that I could just find the recipe and make the CCB for myself but that is obviously the cowards way out of a quest and Iím no coward. Stop making logical suggestions like this to me immediately.
Some things call for logic. But not a quest!
